What’s Longleat Got in Store This Year?
Longleat Safari Park is now fully reopened to the public, and there are lots of exciting treats in store for 2017!
Here at Bishopstrow, one of the finest hotels in Wiltshire, we consider ourselves very lucky to have the Longleat Estate right on our doorstep, and it is the attraction that just keeps giving. Year on year the estate comes out with awe-inspiring new events and attractions, and 2017 is no different! Keep reading to find out all about what Longleat has in store for you this year…
An exciting new addition to the park this year, and definitely worth a visit, are Longleat’s adorable new Cheetah cubs, Poppy and Winston. The pair were born late last year, and are still very much reliant on mum. Rocking some pretty spectacular hair dos, Poppy and Winston will stay with mum until they are at least 2 years old, but get down to Longleat while they’re still tiny, so that you can catch them before that shock of downy baby hair disappears!
Coming to Longleat this Easter, the “Marvellous Monsters” instalment is definitely not one to miss! From 31st March 2017, you will find a host of creepy crawlies dotted around the spectacular ground at Longleat. But these are no ordinary creepy crawlies, oh no, these are giant animatronic ones! From garden regulars like the bumble bee and the ladybird, to more exotic visitors like the orchid mantis and the whip mantis, there will be a veritable zoo of insects and arachnids to explore. The installation comes with a strong emphasis on conservation and the importance of looking after our creepy crawly friends, so definitely one to bring your little entomologists along too!
Capability Brown Tours
Longleat is famous for its Georgian Capability Brown landscaped gardens. Filled with quintessentially Brownian features, including a chain of beautiful lakes that sweep through the 900 acre grounds; a picturesque arboretum; and the curiously named ‘Great Ha-Ha’ (we’ll leave it to you to discover what it is), the gardens at Longleat truly are a sight to behold. Well, luckily for you, those who are keen to learn a little more about the gardens and how they came to be can now take part in one of the intriguing and informative ‘Capability Brown Tours’ which will be running between May and September. Keep an eye on the Groups page for tickets!
And So Much More!
Keep your eyes peeled for everything that’s coming later in the year too. The Sky Safari and the Festival of Light will both be back by popular demand, as well as many other exciting events. You never know what new additions will be arriving either, so keep Longleat in your sights in 2017.
