Longleat takes to the skies!
As part of its incredible 50th Birthday celebrations, Longleat is sending more than 50 hot air balloons into the sky over the estate in a spectacular event that is not to be missed. Just a stone’s throw away from Bishopstrow in their shared home of Warminster, the Longleat Sky Safari is the perfect autumn extravaganza for the whole family.
The spectacular event will take place from 16th-18th September and include some fantastic sights to behold. Among the top attractions at the Sky Safari will be Longleat’s very own ‘Flying Lion’ taking to the skies, as well as the breath taking night glow event that will be taking place on the evening of the 17th September. The night glow promises to be a truly stunning spectacle, with all of the balloons assuming formation on ground level and firing up their burners to produce an awe-inspiring light display across the estate. As well as daily balloon flights, there will also be some tethered ascents taking place. These will be displays in which the balloons are tethered to the ground, allowing you to admire the balloons for a little longer without them floating off into the ether. There will be a competition to win your very own trip into the skies in the ‘Flying Lion’, so keep your eyes peeled for details of that!
Just a few miles down the road from Longleat, Bishopstrow is the perfect luxury accommodation near Longleat from which you can base your balloon filled weekend! We’re so close in fact, that you might be able to enjoy a sneak preview of the 50th anniversary festivities from Bishopstrow’s own beautiful grounds. The myriad balloons will be taking off from sunrise to sunset, so you can catch a little warm up show from the hotel itself. That’s the advantage of having one of the most beautiful hotels in Wiltshire down the road from one of the most exciting attractions in the county!

Also, please bear in mind when planning your day, that ballooning is wholly weather dependent and though Longleat will endeavour to keep the festivities going, it may not always be possible.
